You matter

from Seth’s Blog by Seth Godin

  • When you love the work you do and the people you do it with, you matter.
  • When you are so gracious and generous and aware that you think of other people before yourself, you matter.
  • When you leave the world a better place than you found it, you matter.
  • When you continue to raise the bar on what you do and how you do it, you matter.
  • When you teach and forgive and teach more before you rush to judge and demean, you matter.
  • When you touch the people in your life through your actions (and your words), you matter.
  • When kids grow up wanting to be you, you matter.
  • When you see the world as it is, but insist on making it more like it could be, you matter.
  • When you inspire a Nobel prize winner or a slum dweller, you matter.
  • When the room brightens when you walk in, you matter.
  • And when the legacy you leave behind lasts for hours, days or a lifetime, you matter.

LaBeouf: ‘Acting Is A Con Game’

Actor Shia LaBeouf chats with actress Megan Fox during the world premiere of their latest film

Actor Shia LaBeouf chats with actress Megan Fox during the world premiere of their latest film “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” in Tokyo, Monday, June 8, 2009.

“Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf is convinced talent means nothing in Hollywood, and success is all about luck, motivation and ambition.

The actor admits he has no idea what makes him an in-demand movie superstar, but he doesn’t spend too much time thinking about it.

He tells Parade magazine, “Actors live dependent on being validated by other people’s opinions. I don’t understand what it is I do that people want. I don’t know what an actor does. I have no credentials. I don’t know what I’m doing.

“To my mind, talent doesn’t really exist. Talent is like a card player’s luck. It is motivation, ambition, and luck. It’s just a drive to be the best. I think acting is a con game.”

And he urges Hollywood wannabes to think twice before signing up for movie game: “The good actors are all screwed up. They’re all in pain. It’s a profession of bottom-feeders and heartbroken people.”

Something real, something true.

I feel the same way. I traveled for about 6wks or so to jar myself out of the usual but I seem to have overshot my mark. Now I’m having trouble readjusting to being back but the funny thing is that I had trouble adjusting to being in other cities, too. Nevertheless, I don’t feel like I’m the same person who left and now I’ll just have to get used to this person who’s here, now. Good luck on getting to know the new you. As I will be on the same journey myself.

diannedeguzman:

I can’t seem to string together two sentences and plot out how I have been feeling lately. I’ve been out of the country, out of my regular self and now that I’m back, I am forced to deal with this — what I can only liken to a description in a short story I read once: “[moving] around inside my body like it was a warm loose bag” — and I don’t know what it means.

So excuse me while I get all emo, but I haven’t written anything in nearly a month and I am overthinking why that’s so. I laugh when I look at stuff I wrote when I was 20, a lot of “How do I already feel spent?“‘s and what not, but it feels like this notion is rearing its ugly head again.

And I’m trying not to let it mean what it usually means — an itch to run away — but this disconnect is just not sitting well.

Disney to remake ‘Flight of the Navigator’
“Disney is readying another launch of sci-fi adventure movie “Flight of the Navigator.”The 1986 original told the story of a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by an alien spacecraft in 1978 and reappears eight years later, still the same age and with no memory of what happened. NASA scientists discover a connection between the boy and a downed spacecraft and try to exploit the boy, who ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to reunite with his family. The movie grossed only $17 million when it was released but was later rediscovered on VHS, becoming a cult hit.”(via:thr)
‘Flight of the Navigator’ was a film that many of us have an affinity for because of we watched it as children and it had this precious creative magic to it that no remake can ever replicate. That said, if Disney wants to remake this film, I’m actually interested to see how a modern update of ‘Navigator’ would turn out. There are far worse things for Disney to remake.

not gonna lie.  super excited about this.

about time, too.
